Bella Baita Experiences

Why Choose a Holiday in the Piedmont Alps with Us?

By choosing an "off the beaten path" holiday with us here in Piedmont's Cottian Alps, you will be able to immerse yourself in the northern Italian cuisine and culture while we guide through the best of what Val Chisone and the surrounding area have to offer. Groups numbers range between 4-10, and usually around 6.

You won't need to dig deep to find the hidden gems, as Fabrizio and his family have lived here for several generations, so he knows the area intimately. Fabrizio will do the driving so you can enjoy the spectacular scenery along with delicious Piemontese culture, cuisine, wines, and digestives. Marla, an American transplant, enjoys sharing insights into the history, customs, and backstories of this not well known, but very deserving part of the Italian Alps.

We are both passionate about sharing genuine food, natural environs, and authentic cultural experiences, combined with our professional culinary skills along with insiders' knowledge, and you can rest assured you are in capable hands. We are also a lifetime member of the "Slow Food" organization that originated in nearby Bra, Italy. We want you to learn to make some of the delicious dishes you will be sampling, so we'll teach some cookery workshops. You'll leave with skills, and recipes to recreate them when you get back home.

By choosing this holiday you are helping to support us, as we, through our T.E.M association, in turn, support our valley and mountain businesses and the rapidly disappearing mountain way of life. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your interest no matter what you choose to do.

Below we have listed some dates we wish to fill with 6 -7 people. They run from Saturday to Saturday.

We are open to offering these or other tailor-made bespoke experiences on other dates with a minimum of 4 people.

As we are all aware 2020 and even 2021 did not go as planned as most years normally do.

We are planning for this coming season to offer some of our most popular activities here yet again, but we haven’t decided if we will offer set dates or just offer customised dates on request.

We hope to offer you and your group the experience of our hospitality whilst enjoying our spectacularly beautiful part of the Italian Alps.

Enquire about dates and pricing and we will work with you to customise an exceptional and memorable visit with us and our slice of the alps and northern Italy.

    Walking and Cooking Holiday

The week will feature a variety of walks that range from starting from our doorstep to the higher mountain meadows of Val Chisone and Germansca. Most walks are moderate, keeping in mind that we are in the mountains, so consideration for the altitude, the need for proper footwear with ankle support is necessary, and most importantly, some exertion will be required. Our inn, where all our adventures originate, is located at 1,100 m (3,600ft). Our walks take us through chestnut and evergreen forests, with quaint villages, high mountain meadows with spectacular views and much more. Depending on the time of year, we might include a chairlift ride to above treeline walking or end up at some very impressive waterfalls. Variations to itineraries are adjusted with the weather conditions of course. Some days we'll bring along a picnic featuring our homemade bread, local cheeses, and other tempting treats while other days we'll eat at a mountain trattoria, sampling the local specialties such as cured meats, salami, and cheese, along with gnocchi, polenta, egg-rich pasta, and custardy based desserts. We'll replicate some of these specialties in our three cookery sessions and possibly fire up the wood oven to make pizza one night. We send you home with recipes and plenty of tips to make more culinary memories once you are back home.
